INTERLINK COMPLETES BOILER SYSTEM TRANSPORTATION PROJECT FROM CHINA TO MY XUAN A INDUSTRIAL PARK
In project logistics, transporting large-scale industrial equipment with complex structures requires more than simply moving cargo from one location to another. It requires careful planning, appropriate transportation solutions, strict cargo securing procedures, and close coordination throughout the entire logistics process.
Interlink has recently completed the transportation of a steel boiler system from China to My Xuan A Industrial Park, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Vietnam.
The project involved a combination of ocean and road transportation, with Interlink managing the logistics process from cargo arrival at the ports in Vietnam through customs clearance, cargo handling, inland transportation, and final delivery to the customer’s site.
A key feature of the project was that the cargo was received at two different ports: five 40’FR containers at Cat Lai Port and breakbulk components at Ben Nghe Port. This required careful coordination of cargo handling, transportation resources, and delivery schedules.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The shipment consisted of a steel boiler system and related components, transported from China to My Xuan A Industrial Park, Ba Ria – Vung Tau to support the customer’s industrial project.
Interlink was responsible for coordinating the logistics process from the moment the cargo arrived in Vietnam until final delivery at the customer’s designated location.
Shipment Overview:
- Cargo: Steel boiler system and related components
- Equipment: 05 × 40’FR containers
- Additional cargo: Breakbulk components
- Port of discharge: Cat Lai Port & Ben Nghe Port
- Final destination: My Xuan A Industrial Park, Ba Ria – Vung Tau
- Transportation mode: Ocean freight combined with inland transportation
Interlink’s Scope of Services
- Import customs clearance.
- Cargo reception and coordination at two different ports.
- Transportation planning based on cargo specifications.
- Arrangement of suitable inland transportation equipment.
- Cargo lashing and securing.
- Inland transportation from the ports to My Xuan A Industrial Park.
- Final delivery and handover at the customer’s site.
PROJECT CHALLENGES
Oversized and Complex Industrial Equipment
The boiler system and steel components are classified as industrial equipment with large dimensions and complex structures.
Due to the characteristics of the cargo, transportation planning had to take into consideration the dimensions, structure, weight distribution, and securing requirements of each component.
Improper handling or inadequate securing could potentially result in cargo movement, impact, or damage during inland transportation.
Cargo Received at Two Different Ports
One of the major challenges of this project was the fact that the cargo was received at two separate locations.
Five 40’FR containers were discharged at Cat Lai Port, while additional breakbulk components were received at Ben Nghe Port.
This required Interlink to coordinate transportation resources, cargo handling, and delivery schedules across two ports while maintaining overall project continuity.
Strict Cargo Securing Requirements
For large industrial equipment, lashing and cargo securing are critical to ensuring transportation safety.
The cargo had to be properly secured to minimize movement and vibration during road transportation and to protect the structural integrity of the equipment.
Therefore, the securing solution had to be carefully planned according to the characteristics of each individual component.
INTERLINK’S SOLUTION
Developing a Tailored Transportation Plan
Recognizing the specific requirements of project cargo, Interlink developed a transportation plan based on the dimensions, structure, and characteristics of each cargo group.
This approach allowed the team to select suitable transportation equipment and prepare the necessary resources for cargo handling and inland delivery.
Coordinating Cargo Across Two Ports
Interlink coordinated cargo reception and transportation operations at both Cat Lai Port and Ben Nghe Port.
By managing the transportation process centrally, Interlink was able to coordinate vehicles and resources between the two locations while maintaining a consistent delivery plan.
Professional Cargo Lashing and Securing
Cargo lashing was one of the key operational requirements of the project.
Interlink’s team carefully secured and reinforced the cargo before inland transportation to:
- Minimize cargo movement during transit.
- Reduce vibration and the risk of impact.
- Protect the structural integrity of the equipment.
- Enhance safety for the cargo, transportation equipment, and personnel.
Seamless Ocean-to-Road Coordination
The project was carried out through an integrated ocean freight – port handling – inland transportation process.
From import customs clearance and cargo reception to transportation arrangement, lashing, and final delivery at My Xuan A Industrial Park, Interlink coordinated each stage to ensure a smooth and continuous logistics flow.
RESULTS ACHIEVED
Interlink successfully completed the transportation and delivery of the steel boiler system and related components from China to My Xuan A Industrial Park, Ba Ria – Vung Tau.
The entire process, including import customs clearance, cargo reception at two ports, transportation coordination, cargo lashing and securing, inland transportation, and final delivery, was proactively managed and coordinated by Interlink.
Despite the complexity of receiving cargo at two separate ports and handling large-scale industrial components, the project was successfully completed, demonstrating Interlink’s capability in multi-point coordination and project cargo handling.
